Why Website Design

I am fortunate in that my work in web design and development has been a nature extension of my early interest in art & design. From a very young age, I was fascinated by various forms of arts, such as oil painting, sculpture, architecture and ceramics. Since my first experience with website design as a graduate student, I started to explore this area. I became proficient with various graphic design software programs (Dreamweaver, Flash, Illustrator, Fireworks, etc.) through work with colleagues, books, DVD and online tutorials. To me, designing a website is like creating a work of art. I truly enjoy this process of creativity, especially as part of my professional career. The following are some of my works for the past five years.


Given my academic background in Instructional System Design, I’ve understood the importance of applying the instructional design phases of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation, into all of my designs. In addition, I paid particular attention to visual learning principles, focusing on when, where, what and how to present content on every single web page. The successful experience of the end user depends on the developer’s skillful application of the concepts and principles of design, both graphic and instructional.

Inspired by the spirit of an ancient culture, Divine Performing Arts brings to life classical Chinese dance and music in a gloriously colorful and exhilarating show. With an elite company of dancers, singers, and musicians, the New York-based Divine Performing Arts comes to Cincinnati this December.

Cleveland Chinese Spectacular

Role: Web designer and Consultant

The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular, which uses the expression of Chinese classical dance, showcases the true traditional Chinese culture without any Communist Party Culture. Through background scenery, costumes, and choreography, the Chinese Spectacular expresses pure truthfulness, pure compassion, and pure beauty.

Divine Performing Arts (In Progress)

Divine Performing Arts is reviving the long-lost treasures of China by presenting a series of performances across the globe. Its shows transport audiences to a land of beauty and enchantment, leaving them uplifted and inspired.

New Tang Dynasty Television (New version)

Role: Web designer and Consultant

New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) is an independent, nonprofit television broadcaster established in 2001. Headquartered in New York City, NTDTV currently has reporters and correspondents in over 70 cities worldwide. NTDTV is composed of a network of staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds who are knowledgeable about both Asian and Western societies.

Role: Web designer and Consultant

New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) is an independent, nonprofit television broadcaster established in 2001. Edoors (Overseas Chinese Web Portal)

Role: Web designer and Consultant

Edoors (www.edoors.com) is a comprehensive portal site for the Chinese all over the world. Besides its exhaustive collection of information in Chinese on the net, it provides two of the best Internet censorship circumvention products for users in China and other repressive regimes: GPass and Fire-Phoenix.

Global Han Couture Design Competition

Role: Web designer and Consultant

The Global Han Couture Design Competition is one in a series of international cultural and arts events sponsored by New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV). Its purpose is to spread classical Chinese dress culture across the world and to promote traditional Chinese apparel that express pure kindness and beauty.

Chinese International Figure Painting Competition

Role: Web designer and Consultant

The Chinese International Figure Painting Competition is one of a series of world cultural and art events sponsored by New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV). The Competition features works of figure oil painting expressing meritorious traditional Chinese virtues and values with classical western realistic methods.

International Chinese Traditional Martial Arts Competition

Role: Web designer and Consultant

The mission of the “International Chinese Traditional Martial Arts Competition” is to bring forth the essence of Traditional Chinese martial arts and provide contestants with an opportunity to advance their Martial Arts skills and improve their moral conduct based on Martial Arts principles.

Renaissance Performing Arts (In Progress)

Role: Web designer and Consultant

The Fuxing Dance Company is a non-profit performing arts company consisting of award-winning choreographers, performers, and artists. The Company has presented a number of full-scale pieces at Radio City Music Hall, Beacon Theatre, Madison Square Gardens Theater, among others. The troupe routinely provides an excellent performance with informative education to schools, corporations, and communities.

Moodle

Role: Administrator, Instructor

Moodle is a free software e-learning platform (also known as a Course Management System (CMS). Moodle is designed to help educators create online courses with opportunities for rich interaction. Its open source license and modular design means that people can develop additional functionality. Development is undertaken by a globally diffused network of commercial and non-commercial users, streamlined by the Moodle company based in Perth, Western Australia

Online Teaching Guidelines

Role: Web designer and Consultant

The purpose of these guidelines is to help UF faculty members improve their online teaching experience and to encourage effective engagement of students in the online learning environment. It can be used as a guide while designing and reviewing Blackboard distance learning courses.
